Keeping Your Hair Healthy on the Outer Banks!

If you are reading this blog, most likely you take hair care seriously, and try to make sure your hair always looks its best. And if you take care of your hair at home, it makes it easier for your stylist to take care of it at the salon. Which will save you time and money in the long run. And let’s face it, most likely you’ll have your hair for the rest of your life, so that’s quite a long run!

Bad hair care leaves you with an unmanageable mess on your head that’s dull frizzy, and probably has split ends. Who wants that? Here are a few tips that should help you keep your hair at its peak appearance.

Always make sure the shampoo and conditioner you use are right for your hair. Our highly trained stylists are highly trained to help you, and they will be happy to help you find the perfect product from the boutique. Whether your hair is normal, dry or chemically treated, you should subject it to an intensive conditioning treatment at least once a week. Make sure you comb it through the ends of the hair. And you need to trap heat in, so cover it with a towel, then wrap it in plastic, and let it sit for 30 minutes or less.

Another good bit of advice: don’t dry your hair like your sanding your head. Press gently, leave the rough action alone. If you can, let it air dry. If you have snags, use a comb, not a brush, which is going to  yank hair out as well as the snag.

You are what you eat applies equally to hair care. Your hair needs all the same vitamins and minerals you do, so eating a balanced diet is critical for great looking hair. If your regular diet is more often on the run, try to supplement with vitamin pills.

Hopefully, you’ll be able to put these tips to good use, and keep your hair looking it’s best. If you need a little help bringing your hair back to its peak condition, or maybe some advice from a stylist, make an appointment the number one Outer Banks salon and spa, Hairoics.
