Can Balayage Bring Back Your Outer Banks Summer Hair? [Video Inside]
Balayage has been around for a while, but the technique is quickly regaining its spot as one of the most popular hair color and highlights requests in our salon. Balayage allows stylists to recreate the natural sun-kissed hair color most children get in the summer after spending a few weeks at the beach, with soft, natural-looking highlights with less noticeable regrowth lines. Check out a few examples below, created by our stylist Lydia Rose.

How Does Balayage Work?
We asked Lydia to give us some tips and she actually shared the complete process. Here’s how Lydia outlined a normal Balayage application:
Our consultation involved discussing the approach we would employ to neutralize her over processed hair from previous highlighting services. We also had to eliminate a heavy line of demarcation. We began with a global application of a demi-permanent 7.32, a soft, warm biscotti to blend the hair color and followed with a balayage application of highlights.
All formulas included olaplex to reconstruct the integrity of the color the result is a soft, yet vibrant color, with a shiny luster and very healthy finish. We styled her using Chi keratin infusion serum and aquage beyond shine spray to maintain this beautiful effect she is using pureology color fanatic instant deep conditioning masque at home after shampooing with a pureology hydrating shampoo.
And here you can see the results:
Balayage is the same as traditional hair coloring, right?
Not really. Unlike traditional coloring, No two balayage applications will ever look the same, and a good expert like Lydia will be able to place the color to suit your hair style and skin tone to naturally light up your features. Almost the same as spending a few weeks on the beach here on the Outer Banks.
