Dry Hair Never Again: Tips to Keep Your Hair Healthy & Moisturized

Let’s face it; every woman hates having dry hair. Nothing starts your day off on the wrong foot, quite like waking up to a scalp that is dry as a bone. Since the colder weather is now upon us, it is much more common to be afflicted with dry hair. However, it should be noted that damaged hair can also cause dry hair. Damaged hair can occur by dying your hair too often, neglecting to cut your hair, or just not conditioning enough. Today we are going to discuss ways to help moisturize and bring life back into your lifeless, dry hair.

Olive Oil

Put some of the natural oils back into your hair, by conditioning it with olive oil. Take a ½ cup of olive oil( not boiled) and rub it all over your scalp and hair. Leave it in your hair, preferably wrapped in a towel, for 45 minutes to an hour, then shampoo and rinse. This is an excellent natural remedy that won’t break your pocketbook.

Tea, Please!

Love the good things that tea does to the inside of your body? Then you’ll love what it does to your dry hair. This is helpful for making your hair shine and even enhancing your hair color. Try brewing a quart of unsweetened tea and using that to rinse out your shampoo instead of water.

Scrambled Hair?

use egg yolks to moisturize your dry hair

I know this is going to sound odd, but adding an egg to a small amount of your regular shampoo, can help put protein back into your hair. By mixing the egg with your shampoo, you will create a paste-like consistency. You can then apply this paste to your hair and scalp, and rinse after five minutes.

Botanical Oils

botanical oils have healing and hydration power for dry hair
Essential oils have been all the rage lately, and now they can help your dry hair. These oils are available at local health stores, organic stores, and online. Good botanical oils include olive oil, jojoba, almond, coconut, and peanut oil. You can apply these oils to your scalp after wetting your hair, and then sit back and relax with it in your hair for 30 minutes. After that allotted time, rinse it out.

Condition Regularly

The easiest treatment for dry hair is conditioning your hair on a regular basis. Every time that you shampoo your hair, you should be conditioning it. Make sure that you purchase separate conditioner, and don’t settle for any 2-in-1 types of shampoos. If you are someone who spends regular time swimming, it is suggested that you condition your hair every time that you get out of the pool and rinse your hair.

Omega 3-Fatty Acids

This vitamin is perfect for keeping your hair, skin, and nails moisturized. You can pick up these capsules at any pharmacy or the health section of most stores. Follow the instructions on the side to start to see positive results.

Would You Eat A Stick Of Butter?

Just make sure that you don’t put leftover pieces of toast and bagel into your hair. Butter is an excellent way to add some extra shine to your ordinarily brittle hair. Massage butter thoroughly into your hair and scalp, and leave in for 30 minutes. Then shampoo and rinse like normal.

I Know The Guac Is Extra

Yes, this might cost you extra. But, creating a concoction of avocado( mashed), and one egg, provides an excellent home remedy for dry hair. Apply this to wet hair for 20 minutes and then rinse. Avocadoes are known to be rich in vitamins, especially fatty acids, that can help to rejuvenate dry and brittle hair.

Mayonnaise

Unfortunately, I am not joking about this natural remedy. Apply traditional mayonnaise to add strength, shine, and volume to your battered hair. Mayonnaise is known for containing a powerful antioxidant called L-cysteine that provides power and shine to your hair and nails. Once the mayonnaise is covering your hair, use a shower cap to keep this mixture on your hair for 30 minutes before rinsing and applying shampoo.

Honey

Not only does honey help to soothe a sore throat, but it also helps to add luster to the most damaged dry hair. Honey is what is called a humectant, which is an ingredient that helps bind moisture to your hair. This will help to keep your hair conditioned longer. Work the honey through your hair, all the way to the ends, and leave it in for 20 minutes. Finish with shampoo and a rinse.

Aloe Vera

It makes sense that treatment for dry, damaged skin would also be great for dry, damaged hair. This treatment will boost your scalp health and can even help grow your hair longer. Apply Aloe Vera throughout your hair, and leave in for 30 minutes. After which you are to wash it out with lukewarm water and then shampoo.

Baking Soda

It’s great for cleaning your clothes and teeth, so why not your hair? Baking soda will remove any impurities or product build up in your hair. This is perfect for the women who are continuously dying and highlighting their hair. Mix baking soda with water to form a paste-like material. Wash your hair and condition like normal before you apply this to your hair. Rinse out this mixture as usual.

As you can see, living with dry hair this winter doesn’t have to be your only option. These home remedies are easy to make, use, and cheap. Let us know your favorite!
