Hairoics Gets Pumped for Pink!

As some of you may have heard, the Get Pumped for Pink 10k was this past Saturday, and it was a resounding success! The race was in order to raise money for breast cancer research. Hairoics try’s to always support the Outer Banks community, and this event was no different.

Hosted by the Outer Banks Beach Boot Camps, the race started at KnuckleUp in Kitty Hawk, and wound through the back roads of Kitty Hawk for 10 kilometers, finally finishing again at Knuckle Up.

And Hairoics was there to participate! Both Sandy Williams and her daughter Jen Lowe participated in the race! Both had admirable times and ran a good race.

The race was a resounding success, and raised a ton of money for the cause. Former UFC fighter and XFC Lightweight Champion Junior Assuncao traveled from his MMA school in Roswell, GA to participate in the race.

Awards and prizes were handed out for the best times in men and women. Also handed out were awards for a variety of reasons, including best pink outfit.

The after party was a lot of fun. There was plenty of food and drink, and a lot of people stayed to just hang out. There was even a children’s race.

A large number of women, and even men, die of breast cancer each and every year. And what’s worse is if it’s caught quickly enough, the survival rate for victims is almost 100%. Hopefully the money we helped rasie at the Get Pumped for Pink will help other women survive as well. A big thanks to all the people who participated, from your Outer Banks hair salon, Hairoics.
