Holiday Hair Care on the Outer Banks!

During the holiday season, our schedules tend to be more full than usual.  Besides our normal daily routine we are faced with shopping trips, family gatherings, parties and many other holiday events.  Throughout it all we want to look our best.  If you can’t take the time to go to the beauty shop for each function, try these tips to help keep you looking great.

First, use the hair spray sparingly.  If you use a heavy hand applying it, you will need to wash and dry your hair more often.  Style your hair and apply a light spray, using just enough to keep your style and you may find you will not have to wash it quite as often.

Next, consider coloring your hair about ten days after Thanksgiving.  If your hair grows at the normal rate of ½ to 1 inch per month, your color should still look beautiful over the Christmas holiday.

Keep the elaborate styles for the more formal events.  A soft chignon that you can easily do yourself is a classic one that is appropriate for any occasion.

For the special events where you want your hair professionally done by your stylist, make sure you schedule your appointments well in advance.  If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to get an appointment.

Having beautiful hair during the holiday season does not need to be difficult.  Come by Hairoics, your Outer Banks hair salon, for more hints and tips from our professionally trained stylists to help keep you looking your best.

And don’t forget, this week is Black Friday, and we’re giving 30% off almost all of our retail products. So stop by and pick up some great hair care products during your holiday shopping!

To be Short or Not to be Short…

During the fall and winter, we often think about letting our short hair grow out.  Why not?  It can provide a little more insulation around the ears, right?  Not a bad idea, but be prepared to make an honest self-assessment once it gets about shoulder length.  Are you getting split ends?  Does it look kind of straggly?  Do you have short ends flipping out?  No problem!  Just consider a slightly different look while it grows. And who knows better what will be flattering for you than your hair stylist. Read more
